The Junior League of Portland, ME proudly presents a service learning opportunity to inspire you to help end period poverty in Maine.
Join Maine Women's Lobby Executive Director, Destie Hohman Sprague, Maine State Representatives Denise Tepler and Cathy Breen, and Ashley Obptande, Dr. Sarah Holland, and Rachael Heger from I Support the Girls, for a candid panel centered on understanding the facts about menstrual inequities, removing the menstrual taboo, and thinking creatively about pathways to universal, safe, hygiene supply access for all people who menstruate in Maine.
You'll walk away from this session as an issue expert on period poverty, with a strong understanding of how you can advocate for Maine menstrual equity legislature, such as LR 629, which would add menstrual products, along with child and adult diapers, to the ‘basic needs’ tax exemption, and LR 998, which will require schools to provide menstrual products.
This virtual event will end with breakout sessions for consciousness raising, community building and connection.
R.S.V.P. to receive the link to this Zoom event, which is open to members and guests of the Junior League of Portland, Maine, as well as affiliates of the Maine Women's Lobby and I Support The Girls.
This event is produced in celebration of The Junior League of Portland, Maine's 2021 Free the Flow Campaign.
